Rubber Lining for Mining
In mining, the cost of wear is rarely the rubber itself. It’s the downtime, the labour, the lost tonnes, and the knock-on delays that follow. Rubber lining is one of the most reliable ways to protect high-wear assets against abrasion, impact and chemical attack, while also reducing noise and vibration around transfer points.
Where Rubber Lining Is Used
We commonly install rubber lining and wear protection on assets where abrasive ore, fines, slurry and impact loads wear through steel or compromise coatings. Typical applications include:
- Chutes & hoppers (impact zones, transfer points, corners)
- Tanks, vessels & sumps (abrasion + chemical exposure)
- Pipes & spools (slurry transport, elbows, custom sections)
- Launders & ducting (process flow wear points)
- Conveyors & transfer points (structure protection, skirts)
- General plant components (high-contact wear surfaces)
If the wear mode is severe, we’ll often recommend a layered approach (for example rubber plus ceramic wear solutions) to maximise service life.
Selecting the Right Lining System
The “best rubber” depends on your operating conditions. What matters is matching the compound and thickness to the wear mode and environment. Before we recommend a system, we consider:
Impact vs Sliding Abrasion
Impact zones need resilience and shock absorption. Sliding abrasion needs a compound suited to continuous wear.
Slurry & Particle Profile
Particle size, density, velocity and impact angle drive wear behaviour and lining selection.
Chemicals & Temperature
Chemical exposure and temperature affect compound choice and long-term adhesion performance.
If you’re not sure, send photos, measurements and a short description of the material being processed. We’ll advise a practical lining approach.
Mining Rubber Lining FAQs
How long will a rubber lining last in mining service?
It depends on impact, abrasion, slurry profile, and maintenance intervals. Correct compound selection and good detailing around seams and corners are key to predictable wear life.
Can you rubber line assets during shutdowns?
Yes. If you have a shutdown window, provide the asset list and access details early so we can plan scope, materials and sequencing to minimise downtime.
Do you handle repairs and re-lining?
Yes. We can assess worn lining, identify likely failure points (impact zones, poor detailing, chemical exposure), and recommend a repair or full re-line scope.
